The Centre Virchow-Villermé (CVV) is dedicated to develop and promote open and innovative education in Public Health. Being committed to ensure the continuous development and the sustainability of its attractive MOOCs offer (20 MOOCs produced), the CVV together with Institut Pasteur and Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) initiated the development of an international consortium, the Global Health e-Academy Initiative.
The consortium partners believe that Public Health MOOCs have the potential to reach an even larger audience worldwide. More than 300 Public Health MOOCs are already available on platforms like FUN, Coursera, edX, or FutureLearn. Their impact could be even bigger if they were compiled and better coordinated. Therefore, the consortium will map and classify relevant Global Health MOOCs and supplement the offer by creating new MOOCs on underrepresented topics.
The Global Health e-Academy will provide users with custom-designed trainings. In accordance with partner Universities, Public Health Schools and Research Centers, these courses could lead to a Certificate of Open Studies (COS), allowing users worldwide to complete their curricula or to reinforce their professional abilities.
Moreover, the communities created by the MOOCs, bringing together experts, professors, students and professionals, will help the MOOCs users getting access to employment. To this end a job board will be set up with internships, grants and job offers.
