The Centre Virchow-Villermé is launching a call for contribution on the topic of «Numerical Methods, Climate & Health». The program aims at grouping different profiles and disciplinary fields, in order to gather experiences and reflexive feedback on the numerical methods and tools developed around this topic. It is addressed to institutes and research teams working on the cross-cutting themes of climate and health. Participants will take part in a seminar and a practical workshop.
The seminar will aim at discussing the difficulties encountered during the research project (technical, organizational, etc.) and thus refining the research methods. All projet stakeholders (engineers, researchers, etc.) will be encouraged to participate in addressing the epistemological, heuristic, and technical issues associated with the use of these methods. This seminar will allow the participants to prepare the second format of this program by defining common themes to be put into practice. The second session will be in continuity with the seminar and will take the form of one to two days workshop. It will be an opportunity for participants to manage a «mini- research project» in an accelerated way in order to experiment with the different stages associated with these methods; to learn the tools chosen and to discover on this very short time the competences of each profile and the problems specific to their work.
The candidates will be able to submit two kinds of projects: a feedback on an ongoing or already completed research project where the methodology used will be presented with a reflexive look at technical, epistemological and ethical issues. The second kind of project that can be submitted is the proposal of a track for future implementation days (themes, format to be experimented, method or specific software to be used) or the presentation of a research project that is still in the early stages of development.
In order to review the submission a scientific community that reunites actors from universities and research institute has been constituted.
Submissions can be done until the 13 of March 2017.
